Along the MALECON **************HAVANA, CUBA

Above: Most buildings, in Old and Central Havana, along the Malecon, are in bad condition. In this photo a building has collapsed. This location takes a rough beating from the wind and salt water.
Left: The sidewalk along the Malecon at the opening to Havana harbor is in need of some repair. This was one of two large holes in the walkway, the smaller of which had water gushing in.   The lighthouse at El Morro can be seen in the background.
Right: This building is along the Malecon facing the water. Most of the buildings along the Malecon are in this condition, with peeling paint and cement blocks holding parts together. Note the scaffolding and sign announcing the restoration. [Click on this image to view a larger picture.]
